Just Stories Website Content Standards and Guidelines
Got a story to share on the Just Stories website?
To help you craft your narrative, we’ve put together some friendly guidelines to ensure your story shines and connects with our diverse audience.
Writing
1. Originality and Authorship
Your story is your voice. Make sure it’s an original piece from your heart. If you’re inspired by others or quoting someone, give them a shout-out with proper attribution.
2. Content Quality
Every great story has a beginning, middle, and end. Keep it clear and structured. Remember the 5W’s and 1H – what, when, where, why, who, and how? Use simple, clear language and check your grammar. Our readers come from all over the world, and we want everyone to enjoy your story.
3. Word Count and Style
Keep it concise and engaging. Aim for 500-800 words, which is about two pages with single line spacing and size 12 font. Submit your story in an editable “Word” format.
Ethics
4. Content Sensitivity
If you’ve consulted or quoted someone in your story, let them review it before you submit.
5. Inclusivity and Representation
Be mindful and respectful when representing different cultures, identities, and experiences.
6. Editing, Revision, and Approval
Take your time to edit and revise your story. Our Just Stories team may also make edits to ensure consistency and quality. If the story is written by our team it will be approved by those involved before publishing.
Publishing
7. Copyright and Ownership
You own your story. By submitting, you’re giving us the right to publish and promote it. If things change and your story is no longer applicable, just let us know, and we’ll update or remove it.
8. Use of Images and Media
A picture is worth a thousand words! Include photos or a short video with your story. Make sure everyone in the media has given their permission to be featured on our website.
9. Community Feedback
We love feedback! But it must be constructive and respectful. We have a zero-tolerance policy for harassment, bullying, or personal attacks.
Conclusion
These guidelines are here to help you share your story in the best possible way. We want to create a supportive and creative space for all writers.
So, let your creativity flow and share your stories of justice, compassion, and love with the world.
Thank you for being a part of Just Stories!
